The story follows Ken Kaneki, an understudy who scarcely endures a fatal experience with Rize Kamishiro, his date who uncovers herself as a devil, a human-like animal that chases and eats up a human substance and is taken to the emergency clinic in basic condition. In the wake of recouping, Kaneki finds that by one way or another he experienced a medical procedure that changed him into a half-fiend by moving a portion of Rize's organs into his body.
