TOP 5 MARVEL MOVIES
If like me you are a big fan of MARVEL movies, you will love this TOP 5 Marvel Movies list... or not!
The MCU has made 23 movies since 2008, excluding X-MEN and DEADPOOL (1&2) movies. I was wondering why they weren’t on the MCU[1]. I’ve made my research and find that X-MEN was produced by FOX while MARVEL was produced by DISNEY. And what about DEADPOOL? It’s only because he’s an anti-hero. Not really a good reason if you want my opinion! After that, I was asking myself, I know, I have a lot of questions in my mind, why VENOM is not on the list of MARVEL movies? I find out that Venom was produced by SONY and not DISNEY. Okay, now I know. When it’s DISNEY, it’s on the MCU list, if not, it’s not. As simple as that. Was I the only one who didn’t know that? Hope not!
Not all of the MARVEL movies are successful but good or bad, they are talked about. It’s not easy to make a top 5 out of it! Not everyone will agree with my Top 5 Marvel Movies list, but have fun taking a look at it and give your opinion! Oh! And just so you know, if DEADPOOL movies had been on the MCU movies list, they would certainly have been in my top 5. I can’t wait to see WADE WILSON personify my favorite
(anti) super-hero of all time! Okay, enough talking, let’s start this Top 5 list!
5- BLACK PANTHER
BOX OFFICE/NOMINATIONS/AWARDS
This is the 18th movie of MCU. One of the biggest world box-office success. BLACK PANTHER raised $ 1, 3 billion for a $ 200 million budget film. It becomes the 9th most profitable movie of all times, 3rd most lucrative film of USA and Canada and de 2nd most gainful in 2018. Did you know that MARVEL BLACK PANTHER film is the 1st SUPER-HERO movie nominated at the Oscar for Best Film? He won 3 Oscars out of the 7 nominations that year.
PLOT
Several million years ago, a meteorite made of vibranium crashed in Africa. 5 tribes settled in the region and founded the Wakanda. The tribes are in a war until a warrior has the vision to increase his physical abilities by ingesting vibranium and become the 1st Black Panther. After that, 4 of the 5 tribes are allied and the 5th one, Jabari, is exiled in the mountains. Thanks to the vibranium feature, Wakanda is now the most high-tech place in the whole world. However, they refuse to share the existence of vibranium to the rest of the world, for fear of being attacked and robbed. After the death of T’Chaka, King of Wakanda, his son, T’Challa who is the BLACK PANTHER, returns back to succeed his father on the throne. T’Challa is soon challenged by its own nation. Some of them conspire so they can take over Wakanda and sell de vibranium to the rest of the world. BLACK PANTHER will have to walk together with the CIA and the Wakanda Special Forces so they can stop their enemies and avoid a world war involving the Wakanda. Will BLACK PANTHER and its allies will win this fight and save the world, the vibranium, and the Wakanda? Will he stay the Wakanda’s King?
CRITIC
What a great movie, full of rebound, intrigues and action. A film witch united the troops by force and respect of traditions against betrayal and thirst of power. Several beautiful touching and striking scenes, involving talented and truthful actors in their role. A must-see movie!
4- IRON MAN 2
BOX OFFICE/NOMINATIONS/AWARDS
Cheers to the 3rd movie of the MCU! With a $200 million budget, this film raised over $620 million worldwide. At the time, IRON MAN 2 obtains the 5th largest cinema weekend opening. It also gets the biggest opening for a movie for the year 2010 as well as the biggest weekend opening for Paramount. This MARVEL movie was the 3rd grossing film of 2010 in the USA and Canada, just behind DISNEY TOY STORY and ALICE IN WONDERLAND! This successful film won several awards such as Hollywood Film Award for the Best visual effects of the year, Best science fiction actress for the talented Scarlett Johansson, Best villain for Mickey Rourke and of course, the Best superhero for the fabulous Robert Downey Jr. Not to mention that IRON MAN 2 received 31 more nominations for the 2010-2011 year! Not so bad don’t you think!
PLOT
The whole world finally knows that TONY STARK is IRON MAN. At the same moment, Tony learns that his palladium generator, which prevents shrapnel from reaching his heart, poisons his blood, and therefore, that death is near. Our dear IRON MAN then takes the path of debauchery and hell: alcohol, depression and self-destruction and becomes the target of the senator who tries to seize IRON MAN’s armor to arm the US Army. Meanwhile, Tony’s dad associate, who had contributed to the creation of the ARK reactor, died. His son then returns to the country to avenge his family. He is now WHIPLASH also having a mini ARK reactor (like the one who is killing Tony by poisoning his blood), working with whips, you now understand the reason for his VILLAIN name. Knowing he is about to die, Tony bequeaths his business to his faithful secretary, Virginia “Pepper” Potts, and hires without knowing it, a double agent of S.H.I.E.L.D[2] to replace Virginia as secretary. The new girl is none other than Natasha Romanoff also known as the BLACK WIDOW, sent by Nick Fury to keep an eye on Stark.
CRITIC
Several twists and turns, battles and moments of vulnerability that demonstrate that even a superhero can hit the wall and go through hell and need his allies to come back strong. A film, which as you will have guessed, has a happy ending, filled with intensity. The actors play with accuracy and gravity and IRON MAN 3 is eagerly awaited (which was released in 2013)
3- AVENGERS: ENDGAME
BOX OFFICE/NOMINATIONS/AWARDS
The 22nd MCU, release in 2019, breaks records with over $156 million for the first day and more than $1,2 billion worldwide for the first weekend! It doesn’t stop there. AVENGERS: ENDGAME’s success passes over TITANIC and AVATAR with $2,8 billion in 22 weeks in theatres. Unlike all other MCU films, there is no scene at the end of the movie that announcing the next MARVEL film. The producer explains that this AVENGERS movie name was Endgame for a reason: it’s the end of a Marvel chapter, a new one should now be written. For the 2019-2020 year, the film was nominated around 107 times around different world galas. He collected more than 50 awards at those galas for the best visual effects, best hero actor (Robert Downey Jr), best actress (Scarlett Johansson), best stunts guild, best production design, best film, best make-up, best motion capture, best trailer, best DVD/Blu-Ray and more! The movie also adds a Guinness World Record Award to his list for the highest-grossing film at the global box-office in 2019. Still not sure if it deserves to be on my Top 5 Marvel Movies?
PLOT
THANOS has found the 6 Infinity stones and reunited them on the Infinity Gauntlet. At a click of a finger, he destroyed half of the universe. 6 of the AVENGERS members and 3 of the GUARDIAN OF THE GALAXY are still alive and they want to try to save the world from THANOS. However, he destroyed the stones and therefore, they cannot repair the damage caused by THANOS. After they found out, THOR decapitates him. 5 years later, ANT-MAN managed to escape from the subatomic dimension where he was captive after the disappearance of his daughter and wife and Dr. Hank Pym. ANT-MAN join the AVENGERS and suggest they go back in time with the quantum realm to recover the 6 stones and then, save the rest of the world and take back to life those who lost their lives. This mission will lead them to live all kinds of adventures, each more difficult than the other. They will come out of it upset but more determined than ever.
CRITIC
What an extraordinary film! I spent the film sitting at the end of my chair, holding my breath, hoping that they will win. A movie to watch again and again! One of my best in a long time!
2- AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
BOX OFFICE/NOMINATIONS/AWARDS
19TH MCU film. Another blockbuster for MARVEL! The most lucrative film to date. In January 2019, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR collects 2 billion dollars at the worldwide box office and becomes the 4th biggest success in the history of cinema. Several nominations for best villain, best fight, male cinema star of the year, best action film, best actor, best actress… They win 6 awards. One at the MTV Movie Awards for the best film, 2 at the 44th People’s Choice Award Ceremony for the best movie of the year and best actress of the year (Scarlett Johansson) and 3 at the 20th Ceremony of the Teens Choice Awards for the best action movie of the year, the best actor in an action movie (Robert Downey Jr) and the best actress in an action movie (Scarlett Johansson).
PLOT
With the help of his adopted children, THANOS wants to recover the 6 stones of infinity in order to join them to destroy half of the world. THANOS and his team will have to fight and wins several obstacles before finding them. Along the way the AVENGERS crew, with its allies, the people of Wakanda and THE GUARDIAN OF THE GALAXY will find THANOS and try to fight him to save the world, fight that they will lose.
CRITIC
I just love AVENGERS movies. Great scenario, incredible scenes, a lot of action, not too much of science-fiction, a good history, and memorable fights. Nice to see IRON MAN, HULK, DR STRANGE, THOR and much more like ROCKET, GROOT, DRAX, and GAMORA fight to stop THANOS and his deadly project. Revenge will only get better in the next movie!
1- MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS
BOX OFFICE/NOMINATIONS/AWARDS
Let’s talk about the 6th MCU movie. With a 220 million budget, MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, almost broke even on the first weekend, with more than 207 million in gain. It became the 5th most profitable film worldwide, following AVATAR, TITANIC, STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS and JURASSIC WORLD. Finally, the film will reap more than 1,5 billion dollars.
PLOT
Loki, THOR’s brother, joins forces with the aliens Chitauris to take over the Tesseract[3] and control the world. The Chitauris gives Loki a scepter so he can fight more easily and carry out his mission. Meanwhile, NICK FURRY came by a S.H.I.E.L.D research center and the Tesseract that Dr. Selving was manipulated suddenly activates and opens a wormhole, allowing Loki to reach Earth. Then follows a gigantic fight all over Manhattan. As you can tell, the AVENGERS are now in and will try to fight against Loki and his army to protect the earth from its end.
CRITIC
Although this is the first AVENGERS film, I watched it after the 3rd and the 4th. I am embarrassed to admit that I have not yet seen the 2nd. I know, I know, shame on me. But just like the other one, MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, was a terrific movie with a lot of action, humor, a good story, no downtime. I enjoyed watching it from start to finish.
