“The success of our Panini trading cards in the collectible space along with the success that Funko is experiencing in the vinyl figure collectibles space makes this the ideal collaboration for sports fans and consumers.”

“This is the perfect union of two amazing collector bases,” Funko Manager of Brand Licensing Matt Lattier added in a statement. Panini America and Funko Pop announced Wednesday that they are partnering on a new product that will feature Panini’s signature Prizm sports card brand.

Called Funko Pop Trading Card, the retail release will include multiple sports, but will launch with six NBA players and six NFL players this holiday season, Panini said in a release.

Packaged in a case that can be mounted on the wall, Pop Trading Card will have Prizm artwork while the vinyl figures will use poses from the player’s Prizm trading card.

According to the release, Funko Pop Trading Card will be similar to the Pop Album and Pop Comic Covers products.

“We are excited to enter into this collaboration with Funko,” Jason Howarth, VP of Marketing for Panini America, said in a statement. “The strength of what Panini is doing in the trading card space and Funko’s passionate fan base provides trading card and Pop collectors the opportunity to display their fandom in a unique way.”

A source with direct knowledge of the product confirmed to Sports Card Investor that a price point hasn’t been decided and an announcement on the first lineup of players is expected around the National Sports Card Convention in July.
